Why write?

I read a lot, always trying to learn more about the world.

But you can’t just be a consumer of content. The quality of your life is directly proportional to how much value you create (to paraphrase Tony Robbins in an interview with Tim Ferris.). So I want to share interesting stories, observations, and insights with a larger audience.

Beyond that, encouraging myself to write is the best way to learn about new topics. When you teach others, you have to learn the topic well enough to explain it clearly.

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” – Benjamin Franklin

Writing also requires me to clarify my thoughts on complex topics. When you expose your ideas to scrutiny — hopefully constructive scrutiny — it sharpens your thinking and your writing.
